Halo 3 Strategy

Lots of good Halo 3 reading is being accumulated on this site. It's because so many people help in the effort of collecting knowledge around Halo 3 multiplayer. A fun way to spend some time is to use the random page function found in the left navigation bar. The search function is great too. We'll also be updating a small list of recommended reading just to help you find it fast. Know something that should be mentioned here? Click here to add your suggestions.

Power Weapons

By DaSn1per: Power weapons are what drives Halo 3 multiplayer. Be it the rocket launcher, shotgun, sniper rifle, or flamethrower, these deadly, powerful, and completely unique weapons make games interesting and decide which team comes out on top. Learning the strenghts, weaknesses, placement of, and in-game situations when these weapons should be used is key in becoming a more skilled player, one that can kill with any weapon he chooses. Power Weapons is a guide to all those weapons that shape the game.

Hornet Strategies

By Dasn1per: The hornet is a new vehicle for Halo 3, and is one of the best in the game if used correctly. In campaign, the hornet dominates all battles it enters with its accurate and effective chainguns, as well as its guided missiles. In matchmaking, the hornet lost the use of its missiles and got painted a camouflaged snowy white color. Read More...

How to use Vehicles effectively

By Kaizen Maven: The Halo 3 Vehicles is truly among the things that makes the game so great! Of course the fun can be improved, vastly improved, if you know how to use those vehicles. Here's a guide to how to improve your vehicle usage.

Team Doubles strategy guide

Started by Elite AKA Baron & Sai46: A comprehensive guide to Team Doubles. General tips and also some map specific advice. Please help with adding your tips.

Bad Habits in Team Games

By Professor Frink: Failing to avoid these bad habits in team games will likely lead to your team losing the game unless you are matched up against a team that you are just far superior to in ability. As games are ranked this is not likely to happen very often so the only way to consistently win is to avoid these problems and to learn to work as a team.

Halo 3 Tactical Jumps

Introduced by xVxV3ndettA: Not only are Halo 3 Tactical Jumps useful shortcuts, they can confuse the enemy giving a player the advantage to take control of the situation. Control of the situation is the key in many battles, and it's not a skill easily taught. But using tactial jumps with a dash of creativity will not only help you win games, but will also enable you to develop a logic that will help you dominate the playing field.

Halo 3 Carney Holes

Carney Holes are small, hidden places on a map where you can gain a serious advantage such as a great Sniper spot or defensive as a good hiding place. Using Carney Holes can be the tool to snatch you victory from the Jaws of defeat.

Strongholds

On any given Halo 3 map some places are more interesting to defend than others. SGT PoOkiE88 started a section where we can collect those strongholds and "discuss" what makes them strongholds and hopefully how to hold them. I expect this section to grow to become one of this site's most valuable resources.

Surprise!

It's about the element of surprise. How to utilise it. How to set it up. And of course, map by map we try to identify and share spots for throwing those surprise parties. Initiated by Mr killtacular.

Bad Habits in FFA Games

By Professor Frink: Bad habits can be turned to your advantage. Either you have them or your opponent has them and in a game that is as fast as Halo is, a little advantage is the difference between getting a kill and getting killed.

Controlling the Game

By xVxV3ndettA: Halo has several weapons available, such as guns and grenades. Once a person masters at least those two things, he/she becomes capable of utilizing his/her potential skill. How that skill is used will determine whether a person is ordinary, or extraordinary.

Playing Strategically

By Emerging Impure: The skilled Halo 3 player thinks his way through. Sets up his objective, has quick communication, sees his current situation and adapts, engaging opponents swiftly and tactically using sword and shield tactics. In doing this has a positive K/D ratio, increases his own or his team's chance of victory and becomes a veteran. This is the gamer that Plays Strategically.

Thinking In Single Encounters

By Refanius: How to win the war by winning each battle. In Halo 3, the importance of tactics have grown even bigger. But tactics for whole games aren't always that easy to execute. And it might even be morally beneficial to rather narrow down the focus on tactics to much smaller pieces. Or Single Encounters as Refanius calls them.

Knowing Your Surroundings

By Mr killtacular: When playing Halo 3, it is, or course, obvious that you must memorize the geography and terrain of a map if you are to succeed in winning at it. What many players don't realize is that there are two kinds of surroundings, 1) Passive Surroundings and 2) Active Surroundings.

Multi-Point Invasion

By Mr killtacular: In Halo 3 team games there are many ways to invade and take over a vantage point or enemy base. You could have your entire team charge in together or just run in separately using your own tactics. Both have their flaws, although the former is usually better. In the first strategy you may succeed, but you can still be beaten by "lucky" grenades that end your team's assault as soon as it begins. There is one other tactic to invade your enemies' base: Multi-Point Invasion.

Advanced Positioning and Tactics

Know thy location. Or as stated in the article: Good players put themselves in good situations. That's what makes the difference between an average and an expert player.

Halo 3 Tips

Improving your no-scoping

Improving your No-scopes Header.jpg
by xVxV3ndettA: No-scoping is something not something that a typical player can pull off at will. And even for those who have mastered it, it's a skill that's not always something you can rely on. In any case, no-scoping can be essential in giving yourself that those precious milliseconds that could either mean life or death. And in some cases, victory or defeat.

Spartan Laser

That Assault Rifle

You spawn with it. You find it everywhere. You must of course master it. Obviously some people can get lots and lots of kills with it. Don't panic. Our Assault Rifle article comes to the rescue. Especially with some help from you.

Those medals!

Medals make the game so crazily fun. Some are just funny. Others are extremely hard to get. My current favorite is the Steaktacular of which I only have three so far.
